A serial killer who has confessed to killing 93 women across the United States has been indicted in Ohio for two decades-old cold case murders.
Dennis Lynn Rader (born March 9, 1945) is an American serial killer known as BTK or the BTK Strangler.He gave himself the name 'BTK' (for 'bind, torture, kill'). Between 1974 and 1991, Rader killed ten people in the Wichita, Kansas metro area. Samuel Little, 78, is currently serving a life sentence in California State Prison. He confessed to killing five Ohio women, according to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley. Prosecutors identified two of his victims from the Cleveland area and charged Little with four counts of aggravated murder and six counts of kidnapping.
“There are no words to describe the pure evil that exists within Samuel Little,” O’Malley said in a statement Friday. “His heinous disregard for human life is incomprehensible.”

Sometime between May and June 1984, Little encountered Mary Jo Peyton, 21, at a bar. They left together and he drove her to an abandoned factory where he strangled her. He disposed of her body in a basement stairwell, where two employees of a nearby business found her the next day.
In August 1991, Little met Rose Evans, 32, and offered her a ride. He strangled her and left her body in a vacant lot where she was discovered by a pedestrian.
Little, who was raised in Lorain, Ohio, was arrested in 2012 in a shelter in Kentucky, then extradited to California on a narcotics charge. Los Angeles police obtained a DNA match to Little on three unsolved murders in the area in 1987 and 1989 and was charged with three counts of murder. In 2014, he was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences without parole.
As Little was awaiting trial in Los Angeles, authorities in at least nine other states began scouring cold case files to see if Little may be connected. Then in May, Little opened up about his other misdeeds in exchange for a prison transfer. He went through each city and state and told authorities the number of people he killed in each location.

Many of those Little claims to have killed in 16 states from 1970 to 2005 haven't been identified or linked to the killer, making it hard for law enforcement to verify his claims or know whether they are cold cases or people whose bodies have never been found.
Earlier this year, the FBI released 16 ominous and eerily detailed portraits that Little drew of people, suspected of being his victims, from prison in Texas. They hope the drawings will help identify his victims and solve more cold cases.
More than half of his alleged murders have been confirmed, according to O’Malley, and investigators are working to identify a third woman he killed in the Cleveland area. A warrant has been issued for his arrest and he faces another life sentence, prosecutors say.
