Putty Not Opening Serial Port
When I use Hyperterminal to test COM1, I get the message 'Unable to open COM1. Please check your port settings.' I've checked the BIOS of a working station and compare it to the non-working station. All information matches correctly. When I check COM1 property resources, the problem station looks identical to the good station, and not conflicts. Putty session opens to black screen. And this is what I get upon clicking Open. But what i do not have is a serial port on my laptop. I have a usb to serial. Aug 27, 2017 Not really sure it will solve your problem, but as you have not told us what you have tried already, I always start with the basics. To set up serial port forwarding using PuTTY: Open PuTTY to display the configuration window. Enter the IP address of the Uplogix device (1). Under Category on the left, expand the SSH group and select Tunnels (2). For Source Port, enter the local TCP port to forward the console connection to (1). This port should not be in use on your computer.

Has anyone been successful in using PuTTY to talk to a serial port on Windows 10?
Whenever I try, it just beeps at me. I'm using 8/N/1. I tried all the flow control options and various baud rates.
The Arduino IDE will talk to my devices, so it's not drivers or the device I have connected and I know I'm using the correct COM port and baud rate.

Edit:
Ok, I figured it out. I was clicking Serial in the left hand panel. Apparently, that was not for opening a connection to a serial port, but for setting up the default options for serial connections.

Mountain biking games for free. There is an 'Open' button on that screen, but if you click on that it just beeps at you.
Apparently what I should have been doing was clicking the Serial radio button under Connection Type: on the Session screen.
