This is a 200w RMS (500w peak) powered subwoofer. I believe this is the most powerful, sub 225 dollar subwoofer. This sub has a really good price point at 160 dollars. Its also one of the more thinner ones. I bought this to fill in the gap left by my Infinity Reference REF-6522EX that is hooked up to my Sony MEX XB100BT.

I installed this under the passenger seat. Installation is straightfoward, just like installing any other powered sub.
A lot of people think this sub only goes down to 75hz-85hz, but they are confusing this with its LPF filter range, which goes down to 85hz. Open up the manual, and you find that this is a real sub with a frequency response down to 35hz.
You can control gain, volume and low pass filter from behind the unit. You can also use a remote volume dial -- if you plug it in, whatever setting you have on the remote dial overrides the volume setting behind the sub.
I haven't finished tweaking with the settings yet. My head unit has its own subwoofer frequency setting and volume setting, so I have to spend more time playing around with it. So far, my impression is that this sub is very powerful for its size. However, it sounds like it is more about thump than clarity.
If you play a lot of hip hop and electronic music with a lot of percussion you'll probably love this sub. I would be okay with a bit less oomph and a bit more clarity, but I'm pretty happy since I only paid 160 dollars for it. Deep house music sounds awesome with my setup. Hip hop sounds pretty good. My fav genre, salsa, still needs more clarity with the deep tones, especially to hear the basslines and the more subtle sounds coming from the 900 different percussion instruments being played. However, my system sounds like it was purpose built for reggaeton and other poppy latin music!
I haven't used any other sub like this before so take my review with a grain of salt.
I will follow up in this thread after I find my optimal setting. (currently, my head unit sub freq. is set at 80hz and my sub's LPF is set at around 100hz -- sub's lpf has a tolerance of +-20hz)
